The Red Carpet Experience: Providence is a production of the Flickers: Rhode Island International Film Festival.

Our Black Tie evening in 2015 was chaired by Steven Feinberg, Executive Director of the RI Film and Television Office with RIIFF Advisory Board President, Michael Drywa, Esq. WLNE, ABC6 is the media sponsor and will be providing live coverage for our Red Carpet entrance to the event. Our hosts for the evening: Doreen Scanlon and Mark Curtis.

The elegant event featured live coverage by our friends at ABC6, a Red Carpet Entrance and Reception with Paparazzi, Media interviews, a Photo Booth, Producer’s Circle and Dream Maker Awards, hors d'oeuvres, Imported wines and beers, live music, a sit-down dinner courtesy of Decadent Catering and Just Ellen’s Catering and Event Planning, gourmet desserts that will please and titillate, an amazing silent auction that will appeal to all lovers of film, a raffle of VIP Passes to RIIFF 2015, swag bags that will definitely surprise and, of course, the screening of the biggest awards ceremony of the year!

This year's Dreammaker Award Recipient:

Deloris Davis Grant, educator/artist from Central Falls, RI.

According to her sister, actress Viola Davis, to develop the character for the film "Won’t Back Down," she looked to her family. “Deloris absolutely was my prototype for Nona,” Davis says of her teacher sister. “[She was] someone who came out of the gate and wanted to change the world with her teaching and was stopped cold, like we all are for any number of reasons.”

This year's Producer's Circle Award Recipients:

Discover Newport represented by Evan Smith, President/CEO and Kathryn Farrington, Vice President of Marketing.

Evan Smith has been involved in travel industry for over 35 years. He served as Vice President of Marketing at Discover Newport for 14 years prior to being promoted to President - CEO in 2005. Evan spent 10 years of his career in hotel sales & marketing for resorts in Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Kathryn Farrington's career at Discover Newport, began over twenty three years ago developing many non-peak season events and packaging travel programs throughout the destination. She went on to develop sponsorship programs for the marketing company and championed the lucrative film industry in the destination working cooperatively with the municipalities, industry partners and the Rhode Island Film & Television Office.

Michael Abbott, AIA, CNU-A, APA is a Partner at Northeast Collaborative Architects and brings over 30 years of experience to the firm. His leadership has been marked by an abiding interest in historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects. His diverse experience includes working with many buildings listed on the National Register, adaptive reuse studies that incorporate new uses into old structures; and historic research that has led to the reconstruction of missing historic elements and structures.

Ronald N. Renaud is the Executive Director, Department of Administration for the State of Rhode Island. The Department of Administration provides supportive services to all Rhode Island departments and agencies for effective coordination and direction of state programs, within the framework of a changing administrative and fiscal environment.

James Seavor is a retired arts writer for the Providence Journal and broadcast journalist with WEAN News Radio. Jim's affiliation with Flickers stretches over 30 years, back to the days when Flickers' undertook weekly screenings of art and foreign films in the City of Newport. Along with helping with film curation and adjudication, Jim served as a key advisor to the organization as it laid out its long-term planning. Today, Jim serves as a finalist judge for the Festival with the LGBTQ programming.

Dr. Thomas Zorabedian is the Assistant Dean of the URI College of Arts and Sciences and a member of the Film/Media faculty. Tom works with the Dean, the Director of Harrington School of Communication and Media, faculty, and students in strategic planning to develop, promote, and advance the School.
