This Year's ScriptBiz™ was held at Providence Biltmore on
Monday, August 7th, 2006 • 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM

The Rhode Island International Film Festival, a production of the Flickers Arts Collaborative, produces a day-long Screenwriting Conference called ScriptBiz™ during the week of their annual film festival.  It is a full day of developed interactive and informational workshops for aspiring or established screenwriters looking to hone and harness their craft. It not only expounds upon the creative process of writing a successful screenplay, but also on the delicate art of promoting to filmmakers through effective networking and a compelling pitch.

Attendees of ScriptBiz™ receive a full day of intensive training and shared knowledge from award-winning filmmakers, directors, producers, actors, writers, and scriptwriters.  ScriptBiz™ 2006 was thematically focused on how to effectively build bridges:  between New England and Hollywood and between the art and business of screenwriting.

This year’s special guests include Hollywood filmmaker MICHAEL CORRENTE (Federal Hill, Outside Providence, American Buffalo, Brooklyn Rules); STEVEN FEINBERG, Director of the RI TV & Film Office; DIANE ST. LAURENT, director and writer, TONI-ANN BAKER, producer, (A Lively Experiment: Dr. John Clarke, Co-Founder of Rhode Island 1609-1676); GEORGE CSICSERY, independent filmmaker and winner of last years screenwriting contest for “The Alderman’s Story”; actor ALEX DAUNIS (Space Theatre, Jesus, Mary and Joey, Ropewalk), Producer of Historical Films ELIZABETH DELUDE-DIX (Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North, No Simple Truth: Reverend MacSparran's Slaves, Farm and Church in 18th-century Rhode Island).
