NEW ABC TV PILOT TO FILM IN RI

The Rhode Island Film & TV Office is pleased to announce that a new television pilot, BODY OF EVIDENCE, is slated to start filming in various locations throughout our State in March 2010. Pre-production has begun.

ABC Studios is returning to Rhode Island with a procedural drama that centers on a brilliant and tenacious female Medical Examiner, Megan Hunt. Her background as a neurosurgeon gives her a unique and refreshing crime-solving perspective, one that often puts her at odds with just about everyone who crosses her path.

BODY OF EVIDENCE is written by Christopher Murphey, who will also serve as Executive Producer along with Matt Gross. Attached talent is expected to be announced soon.

Steven Feinberg, Executive Director of the Film & TV Office said, "We are extremely proud to be able to announce this great news. ABC Studios has chosen our beautiful state once again to film one of their new television pilots. As a result, more jobs will be immediately available to our local crew and talent pool, while we continue to build upon Rhode Island's important creative economy. This is further proof that, working with our cities and towns, the Ocean State has the heart and resources to compete in even the most challenging of climates.”

House Speaker Gordon D. Fox (D – Dist. 4, Providence) said, "The filming of several major motion pictures and television shows and pilots in recent years has been extremely helpful to the state's economy. This latest pilot will make available much-appreciated work for many of Rhode Island's talented artists and production personnel, and will bolster local businesses that provide hospitality related services and other goods and supplies needed for the filming."

President of the Senate M. Teresa Paiva Weed (D - Dist. 13, Newport/Jamestown) commented, "This is one more example of the ways in which Rhode Island can build upon its strengths to foster job creation. Our beautiful state is diverse and compact, which lends itself wonderfully to the demands of the film industry. This project can help Rhode Island workers through jobs and internships in the film industry, use of Rhode Island vendors, and the promotion of our state through greater exposure of its many magnificent locations."

"We are excited to welcome another Hollywood production to our beautiful, vibrant city," said Mayor David N. Cicilline. "Providence and our state have become the location of choice for the motion picture industry, creating jobs and helping to fuel our economy."

ABC Studios is a leader in the development, production and strategic distribution of entertainment content across television and emerging digital platforms. As a key content driver for the Disney-ABC Television Group, the studio has produced four consecutive seasons of hit programming.

The Rhode Island Film & TV Office is a division of The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.
