MOONRISE KINGDOM RELEASE DATE SET

The Rhode Island Film & TV Office is very excited to announce that Focus Features will release two-time Academy-award nominee (“The Royal Tannenbaums”, “Rushmore”) Wes Anderson’s newest feature film, MOONRISE KINGDOM, in theaters on Friday, May 25, 2012.

Co-written by director Anderson and Roman Coppola, and heralding an all-star cast of Academy Award winners and nominees that includes Ed Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Harvey Keitel and Bob Balaban, as well as a host of local Rhode Island talent, MOONRISE KINGDOM was filmed entirely in the Ocean State and will showcase the beautiful destination to a global audience.

MOONRISE KINGDOM follows the tale of a young boy and girl (newcomers Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward) who fall in love and run away together while a variety of townspeople mobilize to search for them on a unique island off the coast of New England in the 1960’s.
